With so many catastrophies and personal hardships lately...I have found myself constantly calling on my Lord. I am so thankful that He is attentive to every heart-cry I have made.
Like any child of God I want to see results!
Recently, I just heard a pastor preach a simple message on prayer...as I was walking around the house working I heard him say this; "People who expect results from their prayers focuss on the promise and not on the problem."
OUCH! God has listened to me whine time and time again. Frankly, I haven't seen too many 'results' from that either. Please don't get me wrong, the Lord is compassionate and knows we need to be broken before Him and pour out our hearts.
I am speaking of intercessory prayer; praying for healings, provisions, salvations, deliverances and so on. I have read so many books on prayer and heard hundreds of messages-hey I have even preached some myself.
Yet, here I am right now telling myself; "It's time to re-evaluate how I pray!"
Praying the promise for a situation and individual, I believe will not only change them but me too.
I need a physical healing-complete....so my prayer needs to be focussed on my HEALER, His Blood, His Word being that what He says He will do.
I know so many, don't you..who needs a healing, or provision, marriages restored, protection and how about salvation!
Join with me in praying a prayer that will indeed get results. Praying the promises of God!
2 Peter 1:4 "He has given us his very great and precious promises."
PROMISE SCRIPTURES:
Genesis 28:12-15 [15b] "I will not leave you UNTIL I HAVE DONE what I have PROMISED you."
Hebrews 6:12 "...imitate those who through faith & PATIENCE inherit what has been promised."
Joshua 23:14 "...not one of all the good promises the LORD your God gave you has failed. Every promise has been fulfilled; not one has failed."Psalms 145:13 "...The LORD is faithful to all his promises and loving toward all he has made."
Romans 4:19-21 "...[20] Yet he did not waver through unbelief regarding the promise of God, but was strengthened in his faith and gave glory to God, [21] being fully persuaded that God had power to do what he had promised." ONE OF MY FAVORITES!
2 Corinthians 1:20 "For no matter how many promises God has made, they are “Yes” in Christ. And so through him the “Amen” is spoken by us to the glory of God."
I like this quote: "People who expect results from their prayers focus on the promise and not on the problem." My mom does that in her prayers, and I am trying to learn from her example. Recently, my husband misplaced something that was VERY important for work. We asked for prayer from others, including my parents. After the item was found later that evening, my mom read what she had wrote in her prayer journal about this need, and at the end of the prayer was just a simple "Thankyou!" It was matter of fact in her mind that the Lord would indeed answer her prayer, and He did. Amen.
