Is It Obvious Where You Have Been?

IS IT OBVIOUS WHERE YOU HAVE BEEN?
By Daneille Gray Snowden
Picture this, someone knocks on your door and you open it; your visitor see's you covered with flour-her first remark is; "I see you are cooking!" Not only does she know what your are doing, and also where you were, she then likely knows what you are fixing for dinner.

It has happened to me more times than I can count and it was either a pie, chicken-n-noodles or some type of bread. I am quite talented in basking myself (literally) in what I am doing.
As a Christian, (which is one who is to be Christ-like) we are to be LIGHTS in this Dark world. We are to shine Hope, Help and Love to all who are in our path. The question is; are we? My devotions brought me here today, I was reading Oswald Chambers in his book My Utmost for His Highest (April 22). I have read in the past his life story, thus my respect for his words (in his wife's pen) speak deeply. Today's devotion was called; The Light that Never Fails . Excellent title, but may feel a bit overwhelming. God never intended us to carry the burden of this world; we simply can't and live. Yet, our Lord did call us to be a LIGHT shining the way to Him. "Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven." [ Matt. 5:16]

How? How do live life before others so that they see, hear and feel Jesus? Especially when we are struggling with hurt, pain and loss. There is a true lady of God in our church we pastor who's amazing husband just passed away. They have been married for several years, raised 4 beautiful children and now he is gone. Yet, when I see her she SHINES, she truly glows with God's glory. How is she doing this, facing such sorrow? I know her, I have heard her...call out to God in her dark hour of grief. I have seen her worship Jesus with all her heart and I know she spends time in the Presence of her God. Thus, His Glory is radiating off of her to others, who's lives have been stirred by her testimony.
   O. Chambers said; "Allow nothing to keep you from looking with strong determination into the face of God...  A Christian servant is one who perpetually looks into the face of God and then goes forth to talk to others. The ministry of Christ is characterized by an abiding glory of which the servant is totally unaware."
In regards to my first question; Is it obvious where you have been? Does the world see God's glory in our appearance, words and demeanor?  "When Moses came down from Mount Sinai... he did not know that the skin of his face shone and sent forth beams by reason of his speaking with the Lord." [Ex. 34:29]
My Pastor-father and now my husband and I stick a little note on our pulpit, it's a quote from God's Word; "...Sir, we would see Jesus?" [Jn. 12:21] It is a policy we have that we will never get behind that pulpit without first basking in the Presence of God, thus our objective is for people to See and Hear Jesus! Yet, we all are behind a pulpit aren't we? Is it our hearts desire for people to see and hear Jesus? May it be our intentions that they be engrossed with the Glory of God that shines so brightly from our lives! "And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit." [2 Cor. 3:18]

GOD'S GLORY REVEALED!
"For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ." [2 Cor. 4:6]

  3. Amen! If we all took the time to "bask" in the presence of God before opening our mouths, things would be a lot different.

FATHER'S DAY GIFT IDEAS FOR CHURCHES

7 FATHER'S DAY GIFT IDEAS FOR CHURCHES Out of desperation creativity is birthed. I hope to add on to this post through the years. Churches love to give to dad's on Father's Day; sometimes this can be redundant and or expensive. A few short years ago we stepped out of the Evangelistic & Pioneer work to take a small church that is just great and out of the box. So, of course budget is minimal and I am 'it' when it comes to holiday decor and gifting ideas & doing them. The 4 gifts that my family and I put together are as follows:                       POPCORN/CANDY/MOVIE  We placed microwave popcorn, candy bar and a special Father's Day poem inside a popcorn bag.  FRAMED ART FROM LOCAL ARTIST/MINISTER  (Rev. Paul Gray)  MADE THIS INTO A FRAME & ADDED A PEN.                       ...

BRINGING PEACE TO YOUR HUSBAND

Two posts (blogs) ago I said I would continue to look at attaining true peace in our lives. [Sweet Tranquility] Then I promised you that I would continue to expound on having this peace spread through out our home beginning with ‘we’ ladies being the vessel of peace for our husbands.  As I have prayed over this, studied it in God’s Word and in other resources for quite awhile…my ending prognosis is that this study could continue for decades! Peace ; we pray for peace, it's our New Years Resolutions ...it is a salutation in most countries. Yet, everywhere we turn we only observe fruits of turmoil (opposite of peace).  In three thousand  three hundred and fifty years between 1500 B.C. and 1850 A.D. there were only 286 years spent without a war taking place on the globe somewhere. That's thirteen years of war for every year of peace. At that same period of time eight thousand peace treaties were broken.  Today;  2 million coup...

Living the Dream

I have probably one of the most 'spiritual' face book home pages around. My friends post scriptural banners, quotes, prayer requests & praises . I usually get a great up-lift reading my face book. Recently, it seemed many were writing about 'Dreams'. One really jumped out; basically they were challenging the thought (I believe fact) dreams are every day; what we are experiencing today, which is our family, friends, experiences, work, ministry and prayer times. I have always been a dreamer since I was a little girl. When I was little I loved the Walton's-needless to  say my dream then (get this now): was to be a writer, movie star, have 7 kids and live in a big house in the country. Uh huh...yup; unrealistic; but I sure loved the Walton's. Then, when I turned 12 yrs. old at church camp the Lord called me into the Mission Field. When I turned 14 yrs. old, the Lord gave me a heart for India; and was blessed with the opportunity of going there as well. ...
