In the life of Jesus on this earth, we watched Him walking, talking and eating with His friends (His disciples). Remember He called them FRIENDS.
"No longer do I call you servants, for the servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all that I have heard from my Father I have made known to you." John 15:15
Things happen when we come together for a cup of coffee, ice cream and even a full meal! We relax; we enjoy one another as we fill our hungry bellies! We laugh; we learn the level of spice each one can withstand. We learn there are diet restrictions and why. We serve one another when we pass the plate around or pour a glass of water. Key components happen in this simple but common activity in life. Oddly enough, fellowshipping together opens up our hearts to talk about deep things in each one's lives.
This is what Jesus was saying in the verse when He said, "...for all that I have heard from my Father, I have made known to you."
When we take time out of our increasingly busy schedules to simply share moments like this, it is a gift to your friend and to you. It shows them, hey I want to be with you. I want to hear your heart, and I need to talk to you as well.
Application, ask someone out for a cup of coffee. Invite someone over for tea and a cookie. Plan ahead and put on your calendar to eat out with a friend, picking a place that is quiet enough to hear one another. I laugh at this, because a few months ago I picked a place that was so loud we could hardly hear anything each of us were saying. Ha, ha but the food was good!
In this photo, it depicts having fellowship with Jesus - look at it, see how He is the central of the community of friends here. When we draw from Jesus, His love and wisdom; in turn we can have even a richer time of fellowship with one another.
Go and find someone, gain a friend by taking the time to have fellowship with them today.
