When I think of the supportive aspect of a healthy friendship, my mind leans towards supports used to build.
When my husband built a wall, a building or placed a sign up, one of the first things he prepared ahead for, was having the materials to build supports all set and ready to place up.
Have you ever heard the saying, "They are pillars in the community, family or church!" Good friends help support us in so many ways; they add to our lives on so many fronts. And God placed all of our supportive friend's way ahead of time. I am amazed when I look back on how those special friends came into my life.
I have friends who have supported me in prayer. Some have supported me in my call and passions with words of encouragement.
Sometimes, just being there; especially at one's weakest moments is important. Walking side by side facing life's challenges with a friend by our side is just the perfect help to continue onward.
As I look back on my life, I can see aspects in me that connected to my own character that came from the support of a friend. Some of those friends have passed on to heaven, but they still have lasting effects in me.
- Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 – "Two people are better off than one, for they can help each other succeed. If one person falls, the other can reach out and help. But someone who falls alone is in real trouble."
