Pushing Forward and Scaling Back

By talking to several others, I have discovered that many of us who are now at grandparenting age need to make big preparations for our impending futures.
It's not fun to think about or do, but for the love of our family, we must!
There are several good articles to read on the internet on this very subject, and I would suggest that’s a good place to begin!
My husband and I have helped a lot of folks (who have lost a loved one) by helping move their loved one’s items out of their homes.
It is heart-wrenching, exhausting, and sometimes even bewildering.
Walking through it personally, I can say it is definitely one of the hardest tasks I’ve encountered.
For you see, it’s not really the physical work involved, it’s walking through memories. It’s making decisions on what to do with what, knowing that IT belonged to our loved ones and they cherished IT.
Well, this time let’s focus on SCALING-DOWN.
We work our whole life to acquire things, yet, at the end of life, we find that things are not important. Just people and our relationship with them. As well as God, and our relationship with Him.
Scaling back by giving our items away bit-by-bit, consistently: is vital!
Just do it! Decide now, who you want to have specific family heirlooms and give them to them!
What about all the knick-knacks? Maybe scale back to 5 of your favorites and give the rest away. This idea can be applied as one walks around their entire home.
Save your loved ones extra grief by scaling back now.
More to come on ideas on how to prepare for the future.
