For the Better Even in the Worst!!!

The traditional wedding vow says: "For better, for worse.”

Now that my husband and I have been married for almost 37 years, I am thinking, hymmm…should the question be posed: for ‘better OR worse ’? Or, ‘for better AND worse?’
Good and bad times come regardless…RIGHT?
“And is used to connect or join two or more phrases, words, sentences, etc.
Or is used to connect two or more possibilities, options, or alternatives.”
I realize that the meaning behind this pledge (for better, for worse) constitutes it for the good and even bad times, meaning that I will always love you.
Yet…
Approximately 40-50% of first marriages end in divorce. This is heartbreaking. Possibly, people get married too fast without knowing their spouse well.
But, still, it’s a marriage. A new life, as 2 people unite as one. 💒
Brad and I had our spats, especially in the first 1/3 of our marriage. Like most everyone else, we encountered many changes and in the midst of it all, we simply grew up as well as together.
FOR BETTER, FOR WORSE…
AND for the better even in the worst!!! Seriously, through personality challenges, financial woes, illnesses, moves, babies coming, and children leaving, we have grown only closer.
How?
We pray! A LOT! We talk and pray: A LOT!
We cry, we listen, we serve one another, & and even serve together!
Our life is just that! It’s not my life or, not his, but it is OUR LIFE TOGETHER!
We move forward each day by bearing one another’s heart inside our own. I can simply feel Brad’s love and even his passions inside the deepest part of my mind and heart. I know what he likes (& dislikes), I know what he would say or do in different situations.
Wouldn’t you agree with me that
good and bad times both is what life is? By experiencing them with the one your heart beats for is life in all its fullness is truly amazing!
NOTE- A powerful marriage is centered on one foundation: that is Jesus! A marriage that Jesus is the Source and Strength to withstand all the … FOR the BETTER & the WORSE moments life brings.
So, what is it? For better -or- for worse? Or, for better -and- for worse?
Just a thought.🤔😊
